Five Effective Ways To Get Free Traffic To Your Website

Paying for traffic is a great way to get targeted traffic to your website, but there are also free ways to do this – these obviously cost in time rather than money. In the last post I described a great strategy using forum marketing and Yahoo Answers, and following on from that I am going to let you know about five more effective techniques you can use.

5 Effective Ways To Get Free Traffic

Before I begin to tell you about these, you need to understand that marketing online using free techniques takes time and results will not be seen overnight.

It is crucial that you understand that the key is consistency!

DO NOT TRY TO IMPLEMENT ALL OF THESE TECHNIQUES AT ONCE!

Choose the one that appeals to you the most, then create a schedule that you stick to, for instance if you choose Article marketing, then decide how often you will do it and stick to your schedule, if videos appeal to you more, create a schedule for that. Bear in mind the time you have and the time it takes to implement that particular strategy. For instance it takes me a lot more time to produce a video than it does a blog article, however when you stick at it, you will become quicker at that task over time obviously.

Regularity is key, it is more important than quality or quantity believe it or not – and even more important is that it helps your customers – as long as the content is good and helpful don’t strive for perfection, try it and improve, try it and test.

No. 1     Blog Posts

What you are reading at right here is a blog post, so you will write something informative and helpful to your target audience, you use words, especially in the title, that are called ‘keywords‘ these will be words or phrases that a prospective customer of yours may type into a search engine.

No. 2     Article Marketing

The principle is the same as for a blog post, but the difference is that you are writing for a site that is not your own, essentially an article directory. So you still write something informative and helpful and then you have what is called a ‘bio box’ at the end where you can leave your quick message and a link back to your site/offer. So this means you have a ‘backlink’ to your site, which helps your site gain credibility and authority. These article directories used to be very important for SEO, but now it is not so powerful. What you need to remember is to give good information and content, that’s all 🙂

No. 3     Video Marketing

Video can sometimes sound a bit intimidating but it doesn’t have to be.  Let’s see…
Excuse 1: I don’t have the equipment – I bet you do! A smart phone will do a great job
Excuse 2: I’m too shy to be on camera – You don’t have to be (although it’s recommended as it builds trust), you can do a screen presentation (yes you can get free software for this too)

No. 4     Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation means that you have to give the search engines some sort of clue of what your site is about. You need good relevant and unique content to your line of business- in the form of words and phrases that can be recognized. So your website pages should have relevant page names and information within those pages, and if you have a blog (highly recommended) your blog titles and categories should be meaningful to the search engine spiders that crawl the internet looking for content.

No. 5     Social Media

So now Social media is the big buzz word when it comes to promoting your business online, but this can become the most time consuming of all. You really need some time management strategies in place to make this work. You need to have a Facebook business page (just create a page from within your personal profile) . You do NOT want to create a personal profile that is your business, this will get you banned from Facebook. You can have a Twitter account, Linked In account.
The whole point is that you are interacting and taking part in the conversation. The goal is that you become well known, respected and that people in your community know and respect you.

To summarize

Choose one strategy that you are comfortable with.

Produce high quality, relevant content that will be valuable to your audience.

Be consistent, whatever you do, do it regularly, then people will follow you and wait for it…

Be enthusiastic, it’s catching!

Bonus:

Surround yourself with positive, enthusiastic people in your line of work. It is said that we are the product of the 5 people we spend the most time with. Hang on a minute, that can’t be right – there are 5 people just in my immediate family 😮

But you get the point right?

See you at the top 🙂
